Hi all, This is regarding the server being offline since saturday.
I got an email from the company that hosts the server (exigent)
This is what they sent me:
As recently as late Saturday evening, some may be aware of recent issues we've had with our SVHGW05 server. This e-mail is to provide a detailed report as to what the cause has been as well as what we've done up to the hour.
To provide a quick summary, we've provided the following list
- At approximately 9:40PM (13-Aug-2011), 2x drives had gone offline.
- We were able to reboot the server and bring these drives back online.
- The operating system had booted successfully with no errors.
- At approximately 12:00AM, the hard drives again went offline causing the operating system to reboot.
- Early hours of Sunday morning, we were able to boot the server into the operating system which during this time, it went into FSCK check mode.
- Early this morning (15-Aug-2011) the server rebooted after FSCK checks were completed and again went into FSCK check mode while booting into the operating system.
- These FSCK check modes have continued throughout the day after each reboot.
At approximately just after 12:00AM, 2x of the hard drives situated within this server had gone offline causing the server to become unresponsive and going into FSCK check mode. During this time, our server administration team have worked around the clock to continue to bring this server back online. While the server is in this state, the partition to where the VPS containers are stored is required to be unmounted until the FSCK check is completed.
We are continuing to work through these FSCK checks, however, we still have no timeframe as to when these FSCK checks will be completed.
To help bring services back online as quickly as possible for you, we have a production server online ready to setup new virtual servers for those that are affected by the current outage on SVHGW05 server. This will require a manual setup of each new VPS for you by our support team with the current operating system you previously had on SVHGW05.
So I have requested them to set up a new temporary server in which I will install a temporary minecraft world that we can all play on.
This temporary server should be online shortly, I will post updates regarding this topic on both this thread and the twitter, so please make sure your follow us (http://twitter.com/#!/XzibiTminecraft)
